Aguriculture Industry(a.k.a Nougyou)

・ Job description

Cultivated agriculture category: General cultivated agriculture (cultivation management, collection, shipping and sorting of livestock products, etc.) and management operations related to such operations (equivalent operations in other categories)


・Requirements

At least 2 years' experience in arable farming or livestock farming as a person who supervises multiple workers and manages processes, or at least 3 years' experience in arable farming or livestock farming, depending on the examination category.


・Application Process

(1) Check the documents at the National Chamber of Agriculture to see if you meet the requirements.

(2) Application number will be issued after document confirmation

After the documents have been verified, you will receive an application number, which you can confirm and apply for through the dedicated reservation website.


・Examination Levels

The level at which about 30% of applicants with at least 7 years of work experience in Japan will pass the examination.


・Examination Subjects

 The examination consists of a written test and a practical test.

 Duration: 60 minutes Number of questions: 50 minutes


(1) General arable agriculture (including management skills)

①Department

General arable agriculture, health and safety, varieties and characteristics of cultivated   crops, cultivation environment (facilities, maintenance, materials, machinery), cultivation methods and management, pests and diseases, weed control, harvest, conditioning, storage, shipping, etc.

②Practical skills (judgment based on illustrations and photographs)

 Handling of fertilizers and pesticides, handling of seeds, environmental management, handling of materials, equipment and machinery, work related to cultivation, pests, safety and hygiene, etc.


(2) General livestock farming (including management skills)

 ①Department

  General livestock agriculture, safety and health, breeds, breeding and physiology,   

  feeding management, etc.

 ②Practical skills (judgment based on illustrations and photographs)

  Individual handling, observation of individuals, feeding management, handling of   

  equipment, breeding and physiology, safety and health, etc.


Pass/fail criteria

The applicant's overall score must exceed the standard score specified by the National Chamber of Agriculture.
